I have always loved fashion and design, and I grew up in a family business, so entrepreneurship was in my blood. Once I started working after college I quickly knew that the only road for me was to start my own business - I knew that I had to meld my love of fashion with my passion for business. While I was shopping I realized that there was this huge void in the market place in jewelry - there was only high end which you had to wait for someone to buy for you, or there was costume jewelry. There was nothing that women could purchase for themselves, and wear everyday - day to night. I knew there were other women like me, women who lived busy lives and wanted quality, updated fine jewelry that they could wear all time - not just special occasions. I signed myself up for a metal-smith night class at night, while working full time - and the rest is history. Almost 20 years of creating pieces that women can purchase for themselves, collect and wear forever.
The first piece I ever designed was a hammered sterling silver and 14k gold circle necklace on delicate (but strong) chain that was meant to be worn all day everyday - day to night. I literally could not walk down the street without someone stopping me to ask me about it. Demi Moore walked into the first store I ever sold to and purchased 2 pieces. She wore them layered and was photographed in InStyle magazine. Very quickly the wardrobe person on Friends purchased my entire collection from another store that I sold to, and my signature necklace was featured on an entire episode of "Friends"
It can be anywhere - I love to travel - I love the outdoors, and the beach - The pieces that I design have to work for our busy lives. We need to be able to wear our jewelry to work, out with friends, to the beach. I am also inspired by the amazing women that I know and that are part of my life.
We have been so fortunate to have so many celebrities wear our pieces organically. In an era where celebrities are being gifted so much, it is so impactful when someone who truly embodies our brand purchases our pieces retail and then wears them the way they were meant to be worn - over and over! When the AR brand was still in its infancy stage and Jennifer Aniston wore our necklace on Friends (and IRL) it was a huge PINCH me moment. More recently, Meghan Markle wore our earrings for her first royal engagement and then since has worn them, along with several of our other pieces numerous times.
Being a mom, entrepreneur, wife (the list goes on) - there really isn't a day/night selection. Jewelry, at its core, should make the wearer happy - especially jewelry at an attainable price point (whatever that means for each stage of our lives). If happy means wearing 5 rings, a neck full of diamonds, and a wrist stacked all the way up to the grocery store at 8am on a Tuesday - I am wearing it.
I love stacking, mixing metals, pulling in heirloom pieces from my mom and grandmothers - gifts from my husband. Again, it goes back to joy. I love doing what I do every day - it is a true pleasure to wear my jewelry everyday.
