Switch is a membership service that lets you borrow fine jewelry and designer pieces by couture brands and iconic fashion houses like Hermes and Chanel. You can borrow one, two, or three pieces of jewelry at a time depending on your membership plan.

As soon as you sign up, add your first pieces to your closet. You can select any piece that’s available regardless of your membership plan. Once you check out, we’ll send them to you ASAP. Hang onto your jewelry for as long as you want. When you’re ready for something new, send them back in the same packaging using our prepaid shipping label. Soon afterwards, you’ll receive an email informing you that your Closet is unlocked so you can select your next pieces.

And if you decide that you never want to give your jewelry back, you can purchase any piece you’re borrowing at a discount. Our special member prices are already discounted from retail, but you also accumulate purchase credit for each month of your membership.

There is no limit to how long you can keep a piece--as long as your payments are up to date and you’re a member in good standing, the piece is yours.
It depends--we have jewelry of all types. The vintage pieces might show more wear, which if you ask us, is part of the charm. But most of our other pieces are in new or like-new condition. In some cases, you might be the first one ever to wear a piece. Even if you’re not, it might feel like you are--few things hold up like jewelry.

The photos are generally pretty accurate representations of each piece’s condition and we try to be as transparent as possible.
We run a temporary hold of $300 to $500 on every new member's billing method as soon as they sign up. We release the hold immediately afterwards, and the funds should become available again in your account within 24 hours (although it might vary depending on your bank).

Rest assured that this is not a charge. It is simply a hold to make sure that you have funds in your account if we need to charge you for loss or damage.
We go into greater detail about this in our Promises page (and in our Terms and Conditions if you want to get into the nitty gritty) but basically, you don’t have to worry about minor dings and normal wear or tear. And of course, if anything is lost or damaged in transit (so long as it’s been scanned by the shipping provider), we won’t hold you responsible.

If a piece is lost, stolen, or excessively damaged, you’re charged the member price, which is usually much less than the normal retail price, and we apply your earned purchase credit towards it too. Then, you can pick another piece to enjoy as part of your membership.
No, Switch is members-only but that’s what makes it special! You can look forward to something new again and again, and you don’t have to worry about late fees or limits.
YES!!! You can read more about this on the Promises page, but the bottom line is we go to great lengths to ensure that every piece we carry is authentic. We can’t overstate how important to us this is and how proud we are of our rigorous authentication process. If you ever have the slightest doubt about the authenticity of a piece, please let us know immediately.
Yes! It’s pretty simple--for every member you refer, you receive $100 in purchase credit (if we’re at capacity and not immediately accepting more members, you’ll receive the credit even if they only sign up for the waitlist). Your friend will also start their membership with $50 in purchase credit. Sign in and go to the Refer-A-Friend page to see your unique promo code.
Except for rings and some bracelets, most of our pieces are only made in one size so you shouldn’t have an issue. That said, we mention each piece’s measurements so you can be on the safe side. We especially encourage you to look up a bracelet’s size before checking it out, since some run big or small. We’ve also started shooting each of our pieces on models, so that should help you get an idea too (but that's more for scale than sizing). If you have any requests/concerns about size or fit, feel free to contact us.
You can exchange one, some, or all of your pieces whenever you want. As soon as you’re ready for something new, package the pieces the same way they arrived, Make sure the packaging is securely taped shut. Affix the prepaid shipping label we've provided and drop it at a local FedEx shipping location or schedule a pick-up via fedex.com
That’s an easy one--no and no. Shipping is free both ways and exchanges are unlimited.
You can buy any piece that you’re borrowing for its Member’s Price, which is less than the retail value (sometimes much less). The best part is that for every month you’re a member, you earn purchase credit, which continues to accumulate for as long as you’re a member.

Gold members accumulate $5/month, Platinum members get $7/month, and Black members earn $10/month.

To buy your pieces, login and go to ‘Current Pieces’ under your name in the header menu. Click the buy button under the piece you want to buy. We’ll send you a verification email to let you know that you now own your piece and your closet is unlocked so you can choose something new as part of your membership.

The cap on purchase credit from a monthly subscription is $1500. Once you reach that threshold, you have to use your purchase credit to start accruing again from your monthly membership. But you can still earn purchase credit above the $1500 threshold by purchasing an annual membership or by making referrals. The cap on referrals is twelve.
The average retail value of our pieces is about $700 but it varies--some items retail for over $2,000 but nothing is worth less than $100. That said, we choose our pieces based on what we like. We think you should too.
We didn’t put in this question to toot our own horn--we’ve had lots of folks say that they thought Switch is too-good-to-be-true. But it’s for real--no catch. We’re still a young company so we’re more focused on growing and satisfying our membership base than making money. And we’re trying to change the way people shop for jewelry!

Your Closet

As soon as you register and become a member, you have an empty closet to fill! Your membership plan dictates the spaces of space available in your closet (for instance, if you’re a Black member, you have three slots available in your closet).

Once you pick your pieces (and for as long as you have them), your closet is locked. As soon as we get your piece back (or as soon as you buy it), we let you know that your closet is unlocked so you can pick your next ones!
Yes! No style quizzes or surprises here. We show exactly which pieces are available at any given time (anyone can see what’s available, even if you’re not a member). When your closet is unlocked, you can choose any piece of jewelry that’s available.
When you add a piece to your closet, the 20-minute timer in your closet starts to run. Pieces in your closet will stay reserved until your time is up. If you don’t check out before your time runs out, the pieces in your closet will no longer be reserved so other members will be able to select them.
The short answer: not yet. For now you can only choose pieces when your closet is unlocked (after you’ve returned your pieces). But we’re working on a way to let you reserve pieces that you’re eyeing.


We carry designer and fine jewelry, including iconic fashion houses like Hermes and Chanel, couture brands, and exclusives from up-and-coming designers. Specifically, bracelets, bangles, earrings, ear cuffs, necklaces, chokers and rings.

Membership and Pricing

A monthly Switch membership starts at $45/month. That’s the price of a Gold membership, which allows you to hang onto one piece of jewelry at a time. The Platinum plan, which gives you access to two pieces at a time, is $75/month. Our best plan is the Black membership, which lets you have three pieces at a time for $95/month.

But you can save 20% with an annual membership! An annual Gold plan shakes out to $36/month ($430 upfront). An annual Platinum membership is $60/month ($720 upfront) and an annual Black membership is $76/month ($910 upfront).

Any piece, regardless of brand or retail value, is accessible to any member, regardless of what type of membership they have.
If you’re on a monthly membership, we charge you each month using your payment method on file. Your subscription renews automatically and you will be charged every 30 days.

If you’re on an annual membership, we charge you each year using your payment method on file. Your subscription renews automatically and you will be charged every 360 days.
No, you can choose to exchange some or all of your pieces at anytime. We’ll unlock the number of slots in your closet corresponding to the pieces you returned.
To upgrade or downgrade your membership, sign in and go to your Profile page. Click on the 'change' link underneath 'Membership'.
To change to an annual membership, sign in and go to your Profile page. Click on the 'change' link underneath 'Membership'.

If you're on an annual membership and want to change to monthly, email us at hello@joinswitch.com. Please note that if you are to change from annual to monthly, that change will not go into effect until the end of your 360 day period.
We’d hate to see you go, but you can cancel anytime. Please note that cancellations are ONLY accepted via email to hello@joinswitch.com and we must receive all of your outstanding jewelry to process your return.
Send your pieces back by the end of your billing cycle to avoid getting charged for another billing cycle. If you fail to return your pieces by the end of the next billing cycle, your cancellation will be withdrawn so you'll have to resubmit your cancellation request.
Please note that if you cancel your membership, you will lose any purchase credit you have accumulated and if you decide to restart your membership in the future and there is a waitlist in place, you would have to wait to be admitted.
If you get a new credit card number or the payment method you have on file is insufficient or no longer valid, please update your payment method or let us know in advance. If we try to charge you on your billing day and your payment fails, your account becomes ‘Delinquent’ and you’re technically on the hook for each piece that you haven’t returned. If your account is delinquent for 7 or more days, we can send the matter to collections (which is never fun). But it almost never happens because our members are good and we hate to do it (so please don’t make us!)
We don’t generally take a security deposit from our members but in rare cases (for instance, if we don’t typically offer Switch in your country but you really want to be a member anyway), we’ll ask for a security deposit.
Yes! Simply select ‘Annual’ on the sign-up page to save 20%.

Current members can also save by purchasing an annual membership. To do so, go to your profile and click the ‘change’ link below ‘Membership’.
The short answer: yes. We have no way of knowing you want to cancel your membership unless you let us know. So if you haven’t told us that you want to cancel, we assume that you’re just holding tight until something you’re eyeing becomes available, or taking your time to pick your next piece. But if a long period of time has gone by and you still haven't picked anything, we try to reach out and see what's up.
If you upgrade your membership, you will be charged the difference in the monthly membership price, prorated for the time left in the month. If you downgrade your membership, the downgrade will take effect for your next billing cycle.

Product Notifications

You can turn on notifications for pieces you like so you know when it’s back in stock. When you turn notifications on for a style that's borrowed, you'll get an email as soon as it's available again.
You can do it in 3 ways:
  • 1. From the product page: toggle the notifications button on.
  • 2. From the collections page: click the bell icon in the upper right corner of the image.
  • 3. From your favorites page: click the bell in the upper right corner of the item.
Go to your favorites to see which items have notifications turned on.
The best way to add an item if you don’t have any open slots in your closet is to upgrade your membership, which is super easy--just go to ‘Membership’ on your profile page. Alternatively, you can keep an open slot in your closet to select the piece when it becomes available. Otherwise, you run the risk that by the time you send back an item, the piece you were eyeing gets borrowed by someone else.
Yes, you can turn on notifications for an item even when it's already available. You might want to do this if the piece later becomes borrowed and you want to know when it's back.
We leave notifications on even after you’ve been notified so that if someone else borrows the piece before you can get to it, you'll know when another unit of the style becomes available.
Chances are that someone else also had notifications on for that item and got to it before you did. But that doesn’t mean you completely lost your chance. For some of the more current styles that we carry in deeper quantities, another one may become available within days (sometimes even hours).
That’s less likely for the rarer vintage styles but as with all things Switch, we suggest you keep an open mind. Rather than focusing on a single style, use Switch to push your boundaries and try something new!
Not yet. We might be rolling out a way to reserve items at some point in the near future, but for now, it's first-come, first-served.
You can turn off notifications for specific items by clicking on the bell icon for that piece from your favorites page. Or, you can turn off all notifications by going to your notification settings from your profile dropdown and toggling off Product Notifications.
